We just finished having a large portion of our basement finished and are thrilled with both the quality and the appearance of the result. What was the most frustrating part about finding a contractor?
For us the most frustrating thing was that we were new in the area and we had no experience with any contractors and we didn’t have any local friends to ask for advice. So, we had to turn to reviews and using our gut instincts.
Why did you end up choosing Pittsburgh’s Best?
We had multiple people come in and give us an estimate and there were two things that really stood out about Pittsburgh’s Best. The first was that Missy, who did our initial appointment, spent a lot of time with us. She asked questions about what we envisioned for the space, how we plan to use it, what our tastes were, what our budgetary concerns were. Then she came down the basement and she spent a really long time doing measurements, taking sketches, drawing pictures. That was far more than any other contractor had done.
We had people that didn’t even take measurements, or give us estimates. Missy spent over an hour down here measuring in detail, taking thousands of pictures. We were impressed.
Is there anything the designer did to exceed your expectations?
The thing that exceeded our expectations was that everyone else gave us an estimate, she gave us an actual price. It was a detailed Scope of Work, this is what we’re going to do and this is what it’s going to cost. If you don’t make changes, or there is no really unforeseeable circumstance there’s not going to be any overruns. And that’s how it turned out.
We were most amazed when we went to the showroom after we had told Missy about our preferences and desires and she pulled out a cabinet, a piece of flooring, a piece of quartz. We didn’t even have to change. They were exactly the kind of things we wanted just from discussing it with her once. We were flabbergasted.
What was your favorite part about working with Pittsburgh’s Best?
Well, my favorite thing was they did a fantastic job. And they were great to work with. Everyone we worked with was friendly. They were liked. The workers who came here to our house were clean and were great craftsman and treated us very well. We never had anything pop up unexpectedly. We always knew what was going to be done and when it was going to be done. No surprises.
I’m a real control freak and I loved that they were so precisioned, compulsiveness. Those are A+ for me. That’s what they had.
What would you tell someone who is considering hiring Pittsburgh’s Best?
I would say that you get top quality work and it would be a very pleasant experience. Most remodeling projects come with some hassles and really this was very hassle free. They always come on time. They have an app that you can click on your cell phone that will give you the scheduling so we never had to worry when we were not in the home. Everything was detailed out and really made for an easy process. No question.
What is your favorite feature of this remodel?
My favorite feature is that we have enough space to get together with all our family. When all the kids come to visit we have enough space to sit down and play games at the table. We have enough rooms for seating so we all can watch TV together. Just having the space is my favorite. I have a place for my 85” TV. Of course that is my favorite. Our family likes to watch Broadway musicals and we have it set up so that when you’re sitting here watching a musical you feel like you’re at the theater. It’s just marvelous.

We’d really like to thank Pittsburgh’s Best for a great remodel. We are absolutely thrilled with it. They did a 5-star job and we couldn’t ask for more. They are really nice people to work with especially the ones we worked with most closely, Missy, Tobey and Randy, who were always very courteous, kind and treated us with dignity and respect.
